Regional Tourism Australia is a self funded, not-for-profit company, representing a group of dedicated professionals passionate about restoring and maintaining prosperity in regional Australia. Our Directors and company Partners form an industry-led ’think tank’ focusing on promoting tourism, the environment and the communities in regional Australia.

We are making it easy for website users to plan trips in regional Australia. We are highlighting water in the Australian landscape, promoting environmental awareness and the use of local produce. We celebrate regional authenticity, nature and culture.

Regional Tourism Australia is helping visitors find and buy local food and wine. We are creating local heroes to showcase the best of their region, promoting regional businesses with shared objectives.

We are embracing the emergence of the National Broadband Network, utilising its power to assist regional businesses market their goods and services to Australian and overseas tourists who want to explore the best of what Australia has to offer.

Regional areas have much to offer the visitor including peaceful relaxing surrounds with the creature comforts of home or a bed under the stars. The country communities are proud of their contribution to Australia’s economy, whether from farming, fruit growing, mining or fishing, or tourism. Tourism is a significant contributor to Australia’s economy - for example in the Murray Darling Basin region of Australia $9 billion is generated by tourists compared to $15 billion generated by primary production.

All regions of Australia have stories to tell, places to visit and things to do that create pride in local culture. Regional champions love to show off their best kept secrets. Their celebrated history, award winning pies, a farm come microbrewery, food and wine and magnificent views and vistas.

Regional Tourism Australia will introduce web users to the local heroes who will inspire people to duck out of their own suburb for a weekend, a week or more to explore the wonders regional Australia has on offer.
